Siena's lands
Chianti
The Chianti area is crossed by the panoramic Chiantigiana road which links Siena to Florence. It passes through various hills with tiny villages, old rural churches, splendid farmhouses and cottages. Wine (the Chianti, known all over the world), olive oil, bread baked in wood stoves and the “cinta senese” (a very rare breed of wild pig), are the local products of this region.
All the area among the villages of Castelnuovo Berardenga, Radda, Castellina, Gaiole e Greve in Chianti are freckled by several small restaurants where you can taste all the local dishes of the country tradition: the “fettunta”, the “panzanella”, the “ribollita”, the “pappa col pomodoro” and local cheeses.
